Our Impact

01.

South Windsor Annual Faculty Presentation

Through the South Windsor Annual Faculty Presentation, we had the opportunity to speak to over 40 administrators, sharing insights on intergenerational stigma, our personal stories, and strategies to enhance mental health programs and initiatives in their school system. Through this experience, we have continued to collaborate with South Windsor, implementing programs and trainings aimed at fostering stronger partnerships with families and improving mental health outcomes for students.

03.

Equity Council Presentation

We recently presented our research and discussed the overall problem of intergenerational stigma to the Equity Council, highlighting its impact on equity and inclusion. This group of administrators and teachers from school-based equity teams is driving meaningful change, and we are excited to support their ongoing efforts.

05.

Bangladeshi Mela Presentation

At the Bangladeshi Mela Festival, our poster showcased essential student health and wellness resources while emphasizing the importance of advocacy across campus. Connecting with students in this vibrant setting was an invaluable opportunity to promote awareness and encourage a culture of support and well-being.

Outreach

02.

SHaW Faculty and Adminstration Presentation

We recently had the opportunity to share our research and address the broader challenges surrounding intergenerational stigma with the entire administration of UConn’s Department of Student Health and Wellness. Engaging with this dedicated team was inspiring, and we are eager to continue supporting their efforts to foster a healthier, more supportive campus environment.

04.

Tier III Student Leadership Presentation

We had the opportunity to engage with the UConn Undergraduate Student Government (USG), along with The Daily Campus, WHUS Radio, Nutmeg Publishing, SUBOG, and UCTV, to share insights on mental health and the role of leadership in fostering well-being. Supporting these student leaders in building a mental health toolbox with practical skills was an inspiring step toward driving positive change on campus.

06.

Holistic Huskies Podcast

We were featured on UConn's Holistic Huskies podcast, sharing our journey and discussing our mental health advocacy at UConn. We highlighted our 3-pronged approach—educating students, parents, and faculty—through initiatives like SOLID Training, parent newsletters, high school programs, and research on intergenerational stigma. We explored cultural stigma, redefined success and emphasized resilience and faculty’s role in fostering supportive environments.
